The role of a industrial painting consultant is wide ranging. In order to help select a coating system that is best tailored to a project and which will offer the best possible performance and longevity for our clients, HC Technical will carry out an in-depth evaluation of project requirements, considering the needs of the client and its asset, the environment it will be operating in and considering any local regulatory and industry standards.
The HC Technical team hold a comprehensive set of industry certifications. We’re members of the Institute of Corrosion (ICORR), the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), BSI and the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI). We’re also accredited by the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) as training providers for ‘train the painter’ programmes. This means we have all the know-how to take your project from initial survey to final hand-off.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Our highly trained consultants will be on hand for all aspects of your industrial painting project, taking on the most complex tasks and providing support to the whole team.
We can help you to develop a functional goal-based paint specification and advise on the coating selection process to ensure that project needs and requirements are met. At HC Technical, we provide a fair and accurate appraisal and no-nonsense advice that adds value and saves money. We always aim to deliver projects on time and to high quality standards.

SPECIFICATION WRITING

Prior to any project start, it is necessary to prepare a painting work specification. To prepare an industrial paint specification, our consultant will start with the project requirements, and factors in regulations and other industry standards, as well as the types of paints and coatings available on the market.
HC Technical are experts in preparation of work specifications, which outline the materials and processes to be used for the job. For example, types of paints and coatings to be used, how surfaces should be prepared, the environmental conditions to be observed etc.
This investment in creating a detailed specification at the start pays dividends when it comes to ensuring long-lasting, quality work.

COATING CONDITION SURVEYS

HC Technical perform surveys to evaluate the industrial paint system that has been applied to a structure. We can provide ICorr Level 3 inspectors certified through the Institute of Corrosion to carry out condition surveys for warranty or general annual inspections. We also have specialist qualified inspectors who are expert in the field of intumescent paints and their related systems.

COATING SYSTEM SELECTION AND RESEARCH

Coating failures or corrosion initiation of a coated surface often occurs in areas where the paint was not correctly applied or has suffered from a form of mechanical damage resulting in exposure of the metallic substrate to the local environment. Coating systems may integrate several layers of industrial paints, however the compatibility between coats must be ensured. The ideal coating system should assure the proper performance of the structure to which it is been applied during its service life without the need for structural repair.
HC Technical has assisted many clients on navigating the major factors involved in the selection of a coating system that it right for their project or installation.
