Cold Plate Bonding
Cold plate bonding using Belzona paste and fluid grade metals is a safe, incredibly reliable and highly efficiant way of repairing all kinds of defects ranging from thin wall issues to a hole in a pump casing. The process requires no hot works and is usually a quicker process than traditional welding and other fabrication techniques. It's often used where welding or other mechanical means of repair are not possible due to the condition of the substrate, safety issues or where speed of repair is vital.
Engine and gear box repairs
Our repair methods for issues such as porous aluminium blocks on classic cars and cracked gear boxes are widely accepted as a standard approach to effect a permanent long lasting solution. The block shown is from a classic DB7 which had some hairline cracks and areas of porosity. Welding aluminium takes a long time, a skilful hand and a lot of luck.
We used Belzona 1111 past grade metal to repair the cracks and porosity before using a durable coating to protect from any further issues in the future. The customer was very pleased that a repair was completed in just two days as opposed to the two weeks he had been quoted for the traditional welding method.
This cracked valve in a main road in Essex was repaired for the water authority using Belzona 1291, an extremely rapidly curing material designed for the repair of live leaks where minimal surface preparation can be carried out.
Once the leak had been stemmed using Belzona 1291 it was made a permanent repair with the use of Belzona 1111 Supermetal. To replace the valve would have involved shutting off the mains water supply disrupting many local homes and a large excavation disrupting local traffic. The job was carried out by reducing the water pressure for a short time and needed only a small excavation which allowed one side of the road to remain open.
